A Free GIFT: An Easter Message | @ironmars
If someone offered you a free gift, you’re going to take it... because it’s free and it didn’t cost you anything.
When we do receive such a gift, we tend not to think about the effort it took for that kind person to get us the gift in the first place.
WE BECOME COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS to the fact that the giver was thinking about you when they saved every penny, stood in that long queue and fought off the other contending customers, just for that gift. They went through all of that just for you to receive it
and hear you say, ‘Thank you’.
In the same manner, Jesus Christ paid the price and you’re offered the free gift of salvation. All you have to do is choose to reject it or accept it.
How do you accept the free gift of salvation?
Romans 10:9-10
“That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”
Why should I accept the free gift of salvation?
A young man named Jesus Christ came into this world and became a living sacrifice for the sins of mankind.
He was set up by a close friend who betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver. This friend handed Him over to the authorities. The authorities didn’t like Jesus because He was healing the sick and curing people of their addictions. This had an affect on sellers
making money off of those vulnerable people. So the government stepped in and this is what they did after Jesus was arrested:
They tore his clothes leaving Him naked, then they beat Him, spat on Him, mocked Him and then put a crown of thorns on his head that pierced deep into His flesh. They gave Him 39 lashes across His body with a whip that was embedded with nails and bone pieces which ripped his skin from his body exposing flesh and bone.
Then they put Him on the cross by hammering three 7-9 inch nails; one into each hand, and 1 through both feet. Jesus hanged on the cross for nine excruciating hours. His body was bruised and torn.
Because of this, He could barely breathe and in that
hour, He died and was buried.
But death couldn’t hold Him. Three days later, He
resurrected from the grave and presented Himself to
Mary and His disciples and spent an extra 40 days
ministering to them about the things related to the
kingdom of heaven. His resurrection proved that
there is an afterlife. When the 40 days were up, he
descended into heaven to be one with the Father.
The free gift of salvation comes through confessing
and repenting of sins. Because the blood of Jesus was shed, you can be forgiven. God is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Jesus paid the price so that you can receive the free gift from God.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
Say this prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Saviour.
